Rothari Served the King of the Lombards Perctarit as his Squire/bodyguard till his death in 688 where he then pledged his servious to Perctarit's son. In the Year 701 he was wounded in battle and assumed dead by his comrades when he could not be found.
As he laid there on the blood stained battle field praying that some one would find him a cloaked figure approached him and low female voice heard "don't worry you will not die here." before losing conciseness. When he came too the woman introduced herself as Etheria and explained that she had been watching him for some time as well as what Rothari had now become. During his travels with Etheria Rothari developed a love of fighting with his fists. At the start of the first crusade he enlisted and led a small but strong militia of men which where skilled in hit and run tactics. After the Crusade ended Rothari returned to Italy under the Latin name Ezio with his men who took up shelter in Rome and worked as Caravan guards and protectors of the locals in their area of Rome. For the last century Ezio has turned up throughout Italy.
