Positions
Grand Duke/Ard Ri – Sworn, Titled, Regal, Enthroned (NPC)
The Imperial Duke, King of Kings. The Ard Ri has managed to get at least two other Dukes to swear to him (three if he has entrusted his own homelands/to another). He is the ultimate ruler. Must be a High Clan.
Marshal (Warmaster - NPC)
There is no Marshal at the moment.
Huntsman (Scourge - NPC)
Loki Runetongue is the scourge of the Haemus Peninsula . Also, the Reeve is responsible for this when he encounters unaligned Cainites. Also, Each Baron is responsible for their own Domain.
Reeve - Sworn, Regal, Judicial (PC or NPC - depending on request, story and history - requires ST approval to be this)
A Reeve is the enforcer of the Ard Ri's laws, the dispenser of Justice. Overseeing physical and material aspects of the greater Domain (or portions of it) The Reeve is able to pardon or punish and holds the right of destruction and judgement in the Ard Ri's name, over ALL his subjects.
Chamberlain/Herald - Sworn, Affirmed, Discerning
(Preferably a PC)
A Herald is answerable and directly sworn to the Ard Ri and has no allegiance to the Dukes. However, the Ard Ri usually will accept the suggestions of his Dukes when choosing one. Only a High Clan can be a Chamberlain. The Social heart of the Ard Ri's court. Also. Generally a gossip and rumour monger. Their area of jurisdiction is anything social or boon related.
Normal Fealty
NOTE: You may only have as many vassals sworn directly to you as you possess dots in Leadership.
Duke
A Duke is the Highest position in a Domain. The Duke is essentially a Prince. (S)He controls vast territories which he divides among his Barons. A Duke has a minimum of one Baron though usually two (and 4 barons or knights below them). A Duke must be High Clan (outside of a possible ST controlled Territory). The Duke would grant Barons smaller Domains within his territory. A Duke may not have any Low Clan Cainites sworn directly to them.
A Duke owes:
1 Downtime (per game) in service of the Dukedom or Ard Rhi used as directed by their Leige
1 Major Boon (plus one Minor if they have a third Baron)to the Ard Rhi as Fealty Debt (Each Sub-Story). The Major Boon may be broken down into 3 Minor Boons and 1 Trivial.
As part of Fealty the Duke drinks 1 pt of the Ard Rhi's vitae (1pt blood bond). May have up to 3 Barons sworn to them.
Baron/Count
A Baron or Count has at least one though usually two or more Knights (vassals) sworn to them. To rise above Baron and become a Duke, a Baron must either take the territory from the residing Duke or manage to claim independent lands and set up their own Dukedom. Only High Clans may be Barons (outside of possible ST controlled Domains).
A Baron/Count (choose title that you want) owes:
1 downtime in service of the Dukedom used as directed by their Leige
2 Minor Boons to their Duke as Fealty Debt (Each sub-story).
As part of Fealty the Baron drinks 1 pt of their Dukes vitae (1pt blood bond)
Knight/Vassal
A Knight (or Vassal) is a Kindred that is sworn to a Baron/Count or their equivalent, the title of Knight or Vassal is determined by your Leige.
Low or High Clans may be a Knight or Vassal.
A Knight/Vassal (choose title that you want) owes:
1 downtime in service of the Dukedom used as directed by their Leige
1 Minor Boon to their Leige as Fealty Debt (Each sub-story).
As part of Fealty the Knight/Vassal drinks 1 pt of their Dukes vitae (1pt blood bond)
Associated Status
Sworn - You receive this status for swearing Blood Oath to a Leige.
Titled - You receive this status for having at least one vassal Sworn in Blood Oath to you.
Regal - You receive this status for having at least one Titled character sworn to you and a minimum of 4 vassals under you (ie. 2 Barons & 2 Knight/Vassals). You may NOT have a Low Clan directly sworn to you.
Doge
A Dodge is a Low Clan leader of the Free City as voted by the other Free City pledged Cainites. They oversee territory that is held by a “collective” of Low Clans similar to a free state. They are nominally sworn to the Ard Ri and pay him tribute for not sending his armies to wipe them out. It is uncommon for there to be more than one “Free State” in any greater Domain but not unheard of. Must be confirmed in office every 5-10 years. Can be changed at any time
A Doge owes:
1 Downtime (per game) in service of the City or Ard Rhi.
Owes one Major Boon and two Minor Boons (or 5 Minor Boons and 1 Trivial) to the Ard Rhi as Allegiance Debt after each election if a new Doge is chosen or end of sub-story.
Owes Allegiance to Ard Rhi as though they were a Duke/Baron but without the Blood Bond (Hence the extra cost).
Freeman
Anyone Pledged to a Free State is considered a Freeman. A Freeman is almost always a Low Clan. All Freeman suffer a Minor Status ban by default (either for being Low Clan or for being so aligned).
A Freeman owes:
1 downtime in service of the Free City used as directed by the Doge/leader
2 Minor Boons to the Doge as Fealty Debt (Each sub-story).
If the Doge has not received the Empowered Status then they go to the Ard Rhi.
No Blood Oath.
Associated Status
Pledged - You receive this status for pledging your loyalties to a Free City. You may not hold Pledged and Sworn at the same time.
Empowered - You receive Empowered for being the leader of a Free City and having at least 3 other Cainites Pledged to the city.
