Laibach is a prosperous nation with a diverse economy. From it's corn and wheat fields to its numerous family farms, the populace is productive and generally happy in their toil. The mines are rich with Iron, Lead, Zinc and Coal allowing for a varied level of natural resources for the city based crafters to put out ample amounts of finished products, focusing on weapons, armour, and chain - copious amounts of chain. This production is used for the true source of wealth in Liabach - Slavery.
The Slave Market in Ljubljana is one of the largest on record. Whole populations move through it's auction blocks in the course of a year with many being purchased by the locals to make their lives easier, some sent to the farms and the rest sent to the mines. The focus on slavery puts a bent on every aspect of Liabach; the people are very happy with their lives with food being plentiful and heavy labour taken over by their slaves, but they also live in fear. A common punishment for breaking the laws of the country is indentured servitude if you are lucky, your own place on the auction blocks if you are not. Even worse is the rumours of the dark presences in the capital. Word does not spread, though, as the punishment for spreading discord may be just as bad as having the wrong 'people' hear you.
The Defenses of the land are also based around slavery. As there is a bounty on escaped slaves, the land is riddled with informants and slave catchers. Unfamiliar people traveling off the trade routes are met with suspicion at best and outright hostility at worst. This makes the land difficult to infiltrate as word gets around and spying is a crime that earns you a place in the Markets - usually to the profit of those who found you...
