In July 1199 french nobles gather at the court of Theobald III of Champagne for a grand tournament. Here Peter of Capua promotes the Fourth Crusade and they agree to "take the cross," electing Theobald the military leader of the crusade. With this news reaching far and wide the mortals have a firm grasp over the crusade.
