Did we decide what we want to do with his DT? I was thinking he works on the ritual and is successful in raising the cerbus and manages to figure out that he can manipulate the ritual to create different mythical animals? He will need to find different components? I dunno that is just what I got off my head.

Yes, I think that is good. Let him dissect the ritual as he performs it. What he learns are some of the intricacies in which he thinks he can make minor modifications to change what he uses and the outcome.
He will feel reasonably confident that if he can find a suitable location of power to add to the ritual that he can substitute a goat head, lions head and a Large Snake head. And perhaps create himself a Chimera in the process. If this substitution works in a future casting and he can find a site of enough necromantic power to add to the ritual he might be able to do bigger grander things (manticore, hydra...)
