For those involved or who is going to be involved in the next Crusade the Downtimes will be both downtime actions following the May game.
So you are free to do what ever you wish for the April-May Downtime actions

Are we still subject to domain tithe? Don't we still owe an action to our Duchy?

I suppose that would be up to the one running your duchy, if you have any to spare.

3-dot Retainers can still perform a DT action on your behalf ... or you can use a boon to buy a DT action from someone else to cover for you.

Yes, I realize all that, it's just that the way it's worded it sounds like we are absolved of any of that, given that we will essentially have no DT actions the following month. Otherwise why mention this at all? Have we not always been free to use our actions within the existing structure (domain tithe/personal actions)? Specifically stating that we are free to do whatever we wish implies a change to that situation in light of the special circumstances surrounding the crusade, which is why I sought clarification.

Domain Tithe still stands.
However, participating in a Crusade absolves you of having to do so while you are actively on the Crusade.
So in answer to your original question. IF you go on the Crusade, you do not have to perform a downtime service that year for your Dukedom. But you will have to resume doing so the following year/once you get back.
