Having broken down and closely examined the structure of the Cerberus ritual, coupled with things you learned while conversing with the Embalmer in Egypt. You feel that you are on track to possibly making a full blown Hydra as a haven guard. But as a stepping stone you think it will be easier to attempt a smaller construct first. The Mythical Chimera. Goat, Lion and Dragon Head, but as there are no Dragons handy you are pretty sure a large Snake will suffice (though if you want to increase the virility you might be able to attach a Kimono Dragon head to a Anaconda body as a extra step).
After devising your notes you take make a quick stop in Egypt to consult with the master Embalmer that you previously befriended. He is naturally interested in having some of his concoctions tested out. After discussions he mixes up several earthenware jars of various ointments, and other mixtures. He is willing to provide this to you at no cost provided you return at some point and inform him of how they worked. (If you wish to make a second Chimera you will probably have to strike some bargain with him for either the elixir recipes or the product itself).
With this in hand you return to the Convent to finalize the ritual and prepare for the next gather.
Side note: To complete the ritual and actually cast it you will need to do a downtime gathering the needed animals (or find a way to purchase them) and a Second downtime to actually cast it.
Bonus Test: As you refine your ritual you realize you can get by with 1/2 the quantity of ointments and elixirs you were given.
