Gunnar enters the room and takes a seat near the fireplace after admiring the different heads mounted on the plaques on the wall. Waiting for the rest to arrive.

Fia enters the room and takes a seat. "So what are we hunting today? "

From under the door a letter slips.

Fia picks up the letter and attempts to decipher the squiggles but alas she still cannot read. She hands the paper to Gunnar and grumbles "here see what you can make of this"

He sighs as well. "Usually I have other people read these for me. Just grab the messenger and drag him back in. He should know." He says as he heads for the door. "A moment Fia. "
Heads off to find jack and brink the man back.

Fia returns to her chair and begins idly picking at a seam in the chairs fabric.

Jack walks in still sipping at his ale holding the tankard with two meaty hands as if it were his child.

"Finally, maybe now we can get started." Fia stops picking at the now slightly frayed seam of the chair and turns her attention to Jack. "Gunnar has the note, but once he returns do you care to explain its contents?"

Gunnar follows in behind Jack. Eyeing the man up and down. "Yes. What does it say?"

Jack takes a deep draft of the tankard.
"I canna say lord...lady as you can see the letter was sealed and all I was told was to deliver it to you."
Jack reaches into the folds of his cloak producing a second parchment with a fine charcoal drawing of Gunnar.
"I was given this by the baroness to help identify you along with other things... Clearly you have received the note and therefore my duties are fulfilled."
Jack offers another weak smile then takes another drink.

Yes well, can you read such scribbles if we unseal it? Or Gunnar, do you have ready access to someone with such skills at your disposal?

Jack sidles over to the note a lazy eye slides across the page.
"Can't say that I have any readin but that looks like a map at the bottom."
(The note does indeed have a rough illustration of a route to a valley with what looks like waypoints extending from the shield location.)

Yes well a map to what? Infernalists? Treasure? Our deaths? As I have need for at least 2 of those things.
So Gunnar, anyone you know around here who could read this? I'm all for an adventure but not really keen on waltzing to my death again.

Jack moves over to a chair and continues to sip his ale.
"My Lord Gunnar Duke Raetus did give me something else to give you."
Seemingly like a magician he produces a pigeon. The animal appears calm as it glances sidelong at each figure. On the ankle is a small buckled container made of a dull metal.

Noting the pigeon is specifically for Gunnar, Fia sticks her head out the door and scans the tap room. Spotting Jaak and Lyrah, she scoops up the letter/map thing and heads out the door "I'll be right back".
