Also a quick question for my own clarification and to help reduce my frustrations a bit. What can a Duke actually do in somebodies domain other than basically be at the mercy of whoever s domain it is regardless of status or high clan / low clan?
Really feels like my status as a Duke means nothing as it has a bunch of fancy words behind it that in practice do nothing as I found out from this last scene that has passed over onto the boards?

Hi Matt,
I think the stables thread is locked down now as time has had to move on. You and I (among others) have already posted entries into the Shield of Safety so clearly time has moved on. I know we all have real lives beyond this game and don't always have time to get in there and get stuck in, I myself have only recently been taking a more active part, usually it's my wife who's all over this aspect of the game. Seems like they just made the call and closed it down as we have downtimes and such looming.
As to the other concern, it's not that your status is lesser or not valid, it's just the Builder status that was trumping you. Very few people have this: I do in the library at Klagenfurt, Darel (Baron Rafael) has it for the marketplace in Klagenfurt, Jaak does now for his inn and stables, and I believe one of the Edmonton players had it for something they built for Trieste I believe? Anyway, as far as I know, that's it. Had we been in any other location, you have any number of passives that keep those beneath you (and in this regard Jaak is one of those) from even thinking about calling you out on anything. So it isn't domain per se, it's that specific Builder status. Obviously, we do have to respect each other's domain in the sense of not blatantly stirring things up, but those of us with Builder are another level entirely. Within our specific locations, we are the absolute authority and cannot be punished for anything we do in it. So, simple: don't pick fights with those people in those places. Seek confrontation on your terms on ground of your choosing.
You hold Regal, Sworn, and Titled, all of which allow you to do any number of things outlined in the House Rules: Status section. Anyway, I hope that helps a little.

It came down to a he said she said. And a whole lot of kerfuffle.
Someone's personal Domain as Wilmer said Trumps anyone except a greater Domain holder. He was said to be the domain holder at the beginning of the night. He asked for compensation for damage to his domain by those involved. Doesn't matter why.
His property was damaged over which he holds domain. Everyone in the stables was part of the incident or could have prevented it. Ultimately side details don't matter. only that this group caused damage.
If he frenzied in your domain and Raetus was either the cause or somehow part of it and part of damaging it and you learned latter. You would expect compensation.
Had someone simply said. Sorry for the damage, I will repair it and pay you a minor boon for your trouble Jaak would have been caught with his pants down and pretty much have had to accept. BUT, everyone tried to cheap out so the Harpy made an example about doing so. Duke's should know the system better. Or better yet anyone could have called in a boon owed them by Jaak and simply cleared the matter up before it started. That is what prestation is about.
It was mentioned that it was not clearly understood that there may have been other rooms available and you would have paid for privacy (as has been done in previous gathers). But clearly there was at least one place that this could have been done for but wasn't. The very stables everyone was in. It was clearly known these were Jaak's that has never been in dispute.
My point is use the boons that are out there. It is always cheaper to use them before something happens. Boons can force compliance and agreement. Trying to not owe is trying to opt out of the society as it is.

I am trying to clean up an accident, a call that ran things a little amok. We ST's make mistakes and we admit it and have hopefully sorted out out for the future. But we have to balance both sides.
Things happened in the barn that could have been found out. The Laibach side benefited much more than Jaak did. I made a call to let the events be wiped away do to circumstances surrounding the stables to protect Laibach and to protect Tyr. Had the accusation gone forth he would have been on the chopping block, and his character probably ended. BUT, events in the stables would have been known in character. We are speaking of several characters in Trieste with Spirits touch, eyes of Chaos and oracular visions.
I am sorry if this seems unfair when looking at it from one side but we had to try to balance both sides and not play favorites.
Claims about you owing a boon to Jaak for a service is just that. Claims. Completely separate from what happened in the stables. Either you do or don't and need to sort it out in character. The Herald will be the end judge. But they can be bribed.
Also, think on this. If you claim to have done a service for Raetus and it seems to the populace that this is probably the case and he refuses to pay you anything or even acknowledge it. Who suffers more? No one will want to work for Raetus any more. If he can discredit you somehow or he can make it seem like you just went along because you are hot to fight but he was not asked his service is worth less if anything.
Another scenario. If you told Raetus you helped scultone retrieve his special saddle and that without your help Scultone may or may not have succeeded. Raetus say well that was nice, I didn't ask you but I award you x status for your assistance. Doing this assuming it isn't a vary major thing you did takes you off the plate. How do you complain you weren't rewarded enough if you weren't asked to be there??
