So strangely all the nodes of power and anything on them have been leveled by the recent storm in Trieste. Technically all the locations are still owned. However, with a little patience, preparation, a shit ton of money and possibly someone to channel and direct the efforts on the sly and make the right connections.... Specialized retainers can be "rented" from the Beggars Cart.


Anyways, with patience, a little looking into seeing who does what after the loss of their stuff you could possibly secretly hire construction crews and make it look like the city was rebuilding (if someone else doesn't start right away). Some downtime actions, combined with a shit ton of money and or influence in Trieste and xp into the Haven Background, I would start with possibly Size, Occult and Casting Chamber " it would be possible for you to complete a domain enhancing structure that you control. And that if done before Trieste Cainites realized you might be able to pull off the Builder Status over it for yourself.

That would mean they had no say over that structure. You would hold Domain over it.

You would need to come up with some "cover" for the building or attached structure and it would have to be something that would add a domain bonus to Trieste. And yes, in addition to you buying Haven with xp I would allow xp expenditures into boosting a domain stat to speed it up.


Catch, you could not personally be seen to be doing this. You might be able to slip in a Retainer or two or three if you can get them to do the work for you. Other Cainites (particularly of Laibach) can donate money or influence but not personal downtimes to assisting you or else it would counter the requirements to achieving the builder status and also make it easier to be discovered. You can call in Boons on others outside Laibach to force them to help you in the final stages (this counts as your efforts by calling on prestation).

For instance, if you held a boon on Raetus you could force him to give you money. Or if you had boons on Jaak you could force him to help you (but I would only do this to complete the last requirements as before you would be tipping him off that you were doing this).

Anyways, it is possible. Once you hold the Status over the building it can not been taken away and destroying it is a crime against the traditions.

Ideas for domain boosting buildings. If on Isis's property (the strongest node) A series of warehouses and expansion of the dock that is there. +1 wealth to Domain

Convent of the Black Madeline. Perhaps a Martial Training School (good disguise for a Chantry yes?). domain defense +1

What ever you do I suggest something that serves the mortals giving the domain boost but wiuth enough space to slip in a building that is only for your use directly above the node if you decide to go this way.

This is some but not necessarily all the requirements of completing this.
4-5 downtime actions total
Knowledge of who to bribe on the Merchant Council or Influence in Trieste
Someone with the ability to Modify land records or make a Claim against existing ones (there are people out there that could do this)
Tons of Money
an Architect, stone mason or builders of some sort

There would be more I just can not think of them right now.


Lastly, it is possible to build all this and turn everything over to the Mortals of Trieste to watch over and manage except for your personal structure smack in the middle of it all of which you would retain the builder status over. Or you could create a retainer whose sole duty is to oversee the mortal aspects of this.

Ok so I have a master builder card. I have bought +5 temp resources from galahad and he has offered his paragon wealth as well. Raka has donated his 3 if necassary. I have my 1 plus nd an extra down time action card. If I recall my 15 xp I can up my contact in the city planners of triest to 5 and have them maybe bribe people or redraw property lines. Last thing is i need to find a wealthy human that would like to manage all these businesses. I would try and gain the most powerful point of power primarily and build on the other 2 if possible. The idea would be to build a grand library/college/tremere recruiting grounds, a hospice where the black man dali e was located at.the guard tower could be rebuilt with a prison attached.

6 resources from Galahad

Influence Trieste Court x 3
Retainer lvl 3 to oversee things
I am going to rule that you can use the lvl 1 Contact in Trieste to locate the right person in the court system that has the influence to accomplish what you want. Rather than purchase influence and a retainer you manage to convince them to meet you at the Shield of Safety where you can Ghoul them into a Retainer lvl 3 (raise latter if you want, current skills is politics, subterfuge and seneschal)

Another 5-6 resources to keep things appearing as if it is the Merchant council doing the building.
Since this will not be done until after next gather then your new retainer can provide 1 downtime per additional year (game) it takes
If you want to complete it before the August game you will need to come up with two secret downtimes or someone with a ton of influence strings to pull (like Deamos Merchant Extrodinair) Each set of Downtime actions will require at least one set of 5 tests (possibly more if to many people look really hard at what is happening)

1st downtime
will require the 3 resources from Raqa for the contact to spread around to find out who may be a suitable influence and can get done what you want quietly.
+ your 1 resources for payment for their services
5 resources to convince the Influence/future Retainer that it is worth their time to come meet you at the Shield and to conceal their identity while there.
6 xp to make the Influence a retainer (limited in their use but can build this from inside)
Galahads resources 6 (will be put on card for future use)
1 Downtime for yourself to set up, make contact with contact and gain the retainer.

(so far this is not costing you only one personal downtime)

2nd downtime This will have to be next year after gather/next downtimes
Resources 6 card from 1st downtime Bribes for permits construction materials and so forth. Make it look like the city is preparing to rebuild after the storm. No definite location yet just bringing in supplies for the build
Downtime from Retainer x 3 (need 2 more downtime actions to complete)
Master Builder card
Contact lvl 1 & your resources x 1 (keep an eye on things and let you know if they notice anyone poking into things)

3rd & 4th downtime
Another 6 resources would be really good to help make things look legit and speed it all up.
Bribes to complete the paper shuffle and rework so that the land was on lease to the de Zinaro family so long as one of them resided in the family house (oops, no house no lease...bummer)
Ideally you would put these both in at the same time. you could contribute at least 1 of these if you wanted but they would quickly know you were there.
Purchase three levels into a new have (old one is not transferable) size, occult, casting chamber (6xp)

Options to help keep it on down low until to late
Find two level 3+ ghouls to borrow or make use of through boons to provide the 3rd and 4th downtimes. this would keep your finger prints off it and make it really hard to realize what is happening before you achieve builder status. Each required downtime (3 & 4) provided by someone not tied to you increases difficulty to trace the source by their lvl.
Extra resources for bribes increase the difficulty to trace the source by 1/2 resource value (rounded down)
Extra downtime actions invested in a blatant attempt to build on one of the other sites will add a major distraction and provide something for people to discover thus drawing them away from the real project initiated by you. This would be even better if it was your personal downtime actions and even others from Laibach.
Resources to throw away at rebuilding the watchtower and add to distraction that that is the one you are trying to usurp. It is technically outside Triestes walls (though it is in the Doge's domain) there is enough confusion that you could play it quite well as a distraction. Then just claim you were trying to help them out of good will in a effort to unify Gaul and step away from it after dragging it out.


Jaak's domain is next to where the tower was and the stables which was shared by both. The tower was not his Domain. The Tower stood directly over the weakest node.

Ricchar) Downtime: I would like to rent 2 ghouls for the completion of the chantry at the beggars cart willing to pay 3 majors per ghoul for a total of 6 majors.


Us: As Ricchar heads down the hallway towards the Beggars cart he hears a noise behind him. He turns around to investigate but there is nothing there. When he continues down the hallway and stops at the window to see a wizened old man, the store keeper waiting. After discussing things quietly about your needs he eyes you up and down then nods his head towards a door behind you.

Looking back, there is a door that you do not remember across from the Window. Shrugging your shoulders about the oddities of the Shield and Safety you turn and enter.

Inside is your old friend Deamos. Next to him is Rafael and they sit in discussion over a fine bottle of Port.
