Powers of a Herald/Chamberlain:
In addition to their status a Chamberlain is the Judge of all things Social. This means they are the ones who can impose a boon on someone for causing a scandal, damaging a domain or violating a rule. They get to determine the value of a transgression or determine if it is worth penalizing for.
A Herald/Chamberlain determines the value of a service if there is a question. They will enforce any boon that they have certified or that is certified by the debtor (or ST). They also generally frown on being kept out of the loop so if they were not aware of something expect their services to cost if you need inforcement.
A Chamberlain (or Herald with permission) can impose a Status ban on a individual or entire domain if the transgression is big enough or it comes from the ruler of said domain. In rare instance the have petitioned the Ard Rhi for permission to impose a negative status on a a line of vassalage.
A Herald/Chamberlain is your best friend and worst enemy. But no matter what side they lie on prestation (and possibly bribes) definitely trumps all.
NOTE: Expenditure of 3 Regals or enough Gallants(in place of Regal) or a combination there of can temporarily remove a Herald or Chamberlain from position and force the Ard Rhi to re-declare/choose. Doing so is a statement of non-support. But, if they are seen to have been within the realm of their duties the Ard Rhi can re-choose the same individual. Doing so during a gathering removes the ability for boons to be imposed upon someone for violating Domain at gather though a case could be brought before the next (or same) Herald/Chamberlain latter.
