As you wake each evening you are getting sporadic reports of disappearances. Mostly around the quarry.
First it was just one here one there. Then it was a few at a time. Now reports say that at least one outpost has been simply emptied of 4-5 people. A little blood was found outside and some scuff marks but nothing to say what has happened.
The Mudman had been trying to watch but nothing concrete. He was with one group and several men disappeared while going for a leak. Once an entire shift change was just gone.
No sign of bodies. Nothing.

The mortal defenses in the Duchy of Lombardy are on high alert. Not sure what has been attacking their outposts and making off with their soldiers, traders, farmers, and workers alike they have increased both the size and number of patrols.
In addition you set traps, try to track the transgressors and guess where they will strike next. You are unsure if this is one skilled individual or many. What you do know is that what ever is doing this is very cunning and managing to begin to set a deep almost superstitious fear in the peasants.
You are pretty sure that what ever is doing this has some supernatural means of detecting not just you but the patrols of soldiers as neither seems able to gain much information. The primary area of attacks is still around the Quarry.
In the meantime, while you are setting traps, and Scultone and the mudman attempting to catch the intruders by day it is reported that a patrol encountered a large pack of wolves consisting of at least 3-4 large ones and 15-20 more normal sized silver ones. The encounter took place as the wolves seemed to be sniffing out the borders and skirting the area around old border fort to the North West. Since encountering them at the N.W. borders of the Duchy of Lombardy (Your Duchy) the well trained mortal forces have been suffering unnatural hit and run tactics from the wolves. They attempted to flee but have been slowly whittled down. Corpses half eaten and left in the road or where hey fell.
Strangely, as the diminishing troop got deeper into Lombardy and closer to the Quarry and Tridentine their attacks ceased as though even they are avoiding the area.
The stone quarry has all but shut down putting a halt to the work on the new castle.
