Local Slave masters following the earthquake have sent out teams to round up the escaped slaves. Unfortunately precious few are caught. Not only do they get away but it seems some of the Slave Masters men are also killed and strung up at random places in the woods.
Someone must be coordinating the slaves and helping them escape. From the few tracks that are found they are moving in small groups, striking some of your farms, orchards and such for supplies and mounts but then making their get away.
The tracks are always lost (or erased).
