Raetus opens the door and scans the interior. Seeing Rapheal he crosses the room. Behind him a ginger tom slips through the door. Raetus seats himself across from the baron. A moment later the cat jumps into the duke's lap settling almost immediately.
"Good evening Baron"
Raetus lightly strokes the feline while the animals tail wags agitated head following the shadows moving across the room.

A shadow enters the room seeming to reach out ahead of Antonio but the lighting doesn't quite make sense for this.
"Duke, baron how are we this evening"
He sits beside the baron

The cats tail plumes watching the second shadow move of its own volition. Raetus continua to stroke the feline unconcerned.

Sokrates deftly executes a diving shoulder roll and rises in a cloud of musty robes and gravedust. "My lords. Is this everyone? I believe so." He moves toward a chair at the head of the table but then begins to pace across the front of the room, slowly stroking his bony chin as he ponders his next words. "No doubt you wonder as to the purpose of this gathering. Well, wonder no longer! I merely sought to lay out some possible scenarios for next gather, and to put forth wise and subtle strategem toward our collective survival and yea, even benefit."

Rafael grins slightly as he watches the Herald pace. "Mutual profit, if we succeed, although not without some danger. But that danger would be present regardless of our actions, so to act would be best."

Ah, yes good Duke. First, may I say that I greatly appreciate your concern for the safety and security of my person and my office. If your raven has not already returned to you, know that I do accept your generous offer according to the terms you have specified. Given the base and devious nature of the opposition we face, I would not be surprised if this strategem may yet bear fruit before the end of next gather. Now to the matter at hand. Simply put, I feel for the good of the greater domain at large that you, Duke Raetus, would better serve us all as Prince of Gaul, and I believe that we of Klagenfurt should place our support behind such a bid. The other viable alternative at this time is a Laibach in greater power, and as I know you to be an honorable lord I would far prefer yourself on the throne than anyone of that duchy. I plan to use the special decree at next gather upon Duke Galahad for several reasons, not least of which is the manner in which his vassals so cravenly assaulted my lord. It shall all be done according to precedent and the laws of our kind should the powers that be wonder at the legitimacy of it, but if you should so desire you must be ready to act at that time and use whatever compulsion you can muster to claim his allegiance and fealty under your own once he has been stripped of existing ties. I have no illusions that they will all go willingly into that dark night, and this may be a great burden upon your reign going forward, but I do feel confident that between us all we can counter whatever designs they might entertain. We three here all hold Crusader, if nothing else, and that excuses any crime, any sin short of destruction. I would also suggest laying plans for contingencies should violence occur. As we all know, Chronicler will not brook such violation on his domain, and so we shall honor his wishes, but others may become so desperate as to force it upon us. In self defense, I would say if any here have minions or other means of aid, they should stand at the ready should they be so needed. With the proper timing, we can unite this domain in one fell swoop, for the most part. What say you all?

"That seems like a solid plan however I would suggest a simpler preliminary approach. With Klagnefurt in support of my candidacy which I hope I can rely upon Duke Antonio. That will mean that Duke Galahad is in support of himself. A position which the Ard Rhi and even Duke Galahad will recognize is politically a weak one. Clearly his domain is quite strong but he lacks any allies within Gaul. Treiste has every reason to back my position due to the Tremere threat and various insults to there domain fresh upon their minds. With Klagenfurt, Trento and Trieste's support we would represent a significant opposition that even Liabach cannot resist. I believe that should we consolidate our strength and demonstrate to Liabach that they cannot bully there way into Princedom they will falter. This will be instrumental if we demonstrate to Galahad the fatal flaw that his petty antics have generated is quite simply he is hated. After that I will be in a position to implement new administration that will cut off the avenues available to him and hopefully convince Liabach that this behaviour will not be tolerated in Gaul. This political maneuver that you suggest Sokrates although effective does have the disadvantage of one showing are hand early and also strong arming Liabach thereby escalating this confrontation. I know that some of you may be concerned about Liabach's physical menace but remember might can be countered with mind and visa versa. In the end usually only numbers matter.
