Some say the night is long, dark, and full of terrors. No one in their right mind (and even those that aren't) would dispute that this is indeed true. But the night is also full of secrets..of knowledge...of power. To hunt the night; to seek the lost knowledge, the hidden things, the secret ways and bring them out into the light; these things are what drove Sokrates Salonikas in life and they are what drive him now in his...different state. It has been a long and bitter road from the academy in Byzantium to these distant foreign shores, and he has seen many dark and terrible things. While always well versed in the refined, scholarly pursuits, he has, of late had to become adept at certain more...martial pursuits in order to survive the many fell encounters and myriad dangers that befall any who travel the roads these days. Yet he has survived them all so far and remained to tell the tale, stronger and wiser for it. Well, except for the encounter that made him what he is today.
That one was...complicated, to say he survived is debatable. "Life" since that dark night has definitely changed; worse in some ways, better in others, but it's definitely far more interesting under the velvet veil of night.
However, regardless of the state of his body or the disposition of his immortal soul, Sokrates knows one constant strong and true: the secrets remain. They are still out there, just beyond the edge of the campfire, just over the next darkly wooded ridge, in all the hidden and secret places far beyond the gaze of gods or men. And he will find them, no matter what. If this new power, these new abilities can help make that any easier, well, that's just a bonus.
