It takes several tries and several nasty explosions but the three of you manage to finally put together and assemble another candle. It is agreed that the properties should be tested. You grab a random slave to test the healing capacities and tell them that if they want to live they will have to light the candle. The Slave just looks at you three blankly until your hand whips out from your sleeve and slashes a obsidian dagger across their belly. Imperiously waving the other two out of the vicinity to take up their positions for observation you throw a taper infront of the slave who is holding their guts in with one hand and take your place observing the other side of the veil.
The slave leaving a blood streak across the floor carefully crawls to the fireplace and lights their taper and then sets it to the wick of the Candle. Where it sits in the borrowed Lantern. The candle lights and a glow infuses the room in both realms. Turning to observe the effects on the ever present wraiths you see their very substance being ripped apart. And their essence being thrown out of the circle of light. Turning back to the slave they pass-out and knock the lantern carelessly over. Morrigan runs to the lantern and examines the candle. After looking very carefully she turns to you and Rafael and mentions the wick is completely gone. Rolling the slave over you can all see that the wound is healed with a nice scar and the slave is alive though seemingly drained from the experience.
The experiment is a success. You get back to work and manage to make another 3 candles total. Before moving on to study the gems,
Morrigan brings out her two gems and goes into a little detail of what she has managed to learn so far. That they are a power focus, something like a stored ritual. When powered, apparently by blood, the ritual can be activated.
The three of you compare notes and agree that though they seem to be a ritual of some sort it is neither Thaumaturgy or Necromancy. Combined insight agrees that they are a key of some sort. The way the others disappeared when they inserted them in their arms they are almost definitely tied to some for of speedy transport. Though probably only to specific destinations. Rafael makes mention that it is possible to travel the shadowlands and cover long distances in a short period of time and that perhaps these allow someone not trained to do something similar.
Morrigan, brings a strange creature/thing with her that appears as if it might be the head of a small human with an attached pigs snout on a bulbous body that seems to be an empty sack and scuttling "finger/legs". At one point between the three of you, using his shadow arms so as not to touch it with direct flesh Rafael drives a gem into this creatures skull between the eyes. Morrigan pulls out another set of gems mounted on a tiara and explains it is a focus gems she has prepared not the infernal ones. All three of you are in agreement think that if you can channel any seeking and seeing disciplines and rituals you may have into the gems that this "thing" can use them in conjunction to track traces of the gem or its creator.
After many failures and several explosions of backfired Thaum and Necromancyin the mortal, spiritual and shadows you manage to get the gems to seemingly hold a charge (or you think so).
At this point the three of you feed this "ghoul thing" Raetus created some blood and it's sack fills up. The bad news is as it focuses an the blood can be seen coursing through the forehead veins of this creature it reaches the infernal gem and the creature, tiara and all is just gone.
Unfortunately unless one of you put one under your skin and maybe try to create another tiara, that is all you really get.
Dt 2:
reserved for Raetus to order me to do something. Barring that, researching zombie ritual.
His: Srpsr (win, bonus: win)
Us: P, S, R, S, S
Service to Raetus
Will fill in details latter. Will be included on public information on board
Bonus: finish ritual
Dt 3 + ghoul dt:
Taking zombie body to act as staff member for Ghoul. Campaign to repair damage in Laibach and trying to make my ghoul a public figure. If he can get some measure of authority, attempt to get the kine government to offer aid to Klagenfurt in attempt to gain the support of their populace.
Leadership 12
His: Psrps (win, bonus: win)
Us: R, P, S, P, R
Bonus: You hear about Inquisitor Samual making the rounds in Laibach but despite trying you never seem to be able to corner him and his men. They perform their acts of stomping out he dead, make sure they get some publicity and then are gone. But taking advantage of his success and the attention it seems to be garnering with the peasants, Nobles and merchants you decide to steal a page from his book.
With a few subtle arrangements for additional zombies to be "out and about" harassing some where (and making your Zombie Body look as mortal as possible, keeping in mind to pretend to breath) you and he set off with him as the "leader" scourging the outskirts of these "rogue" walking undead. setting up local farms to be attacked and then showing up the next day and tracking down these horrible things and destroying them. It actually works out quite well because you get to perfect the implementation of your new ritual.
You do at one point encounter some "things" not of your making. If you were a peasant you would definitely call them demons, and perhaps they are. But also knowing what Tzmitze can do and that there are infernalists about you think that perhaps these things are something both more and less. You see a group of four "demon things" attacking a farm you were yourself preparing to attack with your hordes. But as a change of plans you set your hords to try to take down and capture these things. They put up a really good fight but as it becomes apparent they are going to loose they flee, running into the woods. Your zombies in chase. You reach a site of rocky terrain where maybe half your zombies are wandering around but as for the other half they are just gone along with the demon creatures.
Good news, Inquisitor Samuel is not the only one gaining some local fame. Your retainer has been playing it up making it look like he is calling on the powers of god or some such as he destroys the walking dead you and he have raised for this purpose.
You might want to come up with a suitably heroic sounding name to sell to the public.
