Message sent to Isis ------- Castle Repaired -------
A message arrives from Gunnar for Morrigan to provide him with a list of artifacts. She is quite busy but you mention you were going to see him anyways so she gives you a copy of the list to take with you.
You come upon Gunnar getting ready to head to Bassano, to get the list.
Thinking back you both remember the Hair of John the Baptist - Installed in Cathedral of St. Vigilious was discovered missing from Trento when the Cathedral was re-consecrated. Nothing much has been said or done about it since and no replacement artifact has been sent. The church had seemed to be standing strong on just the faith of its members without it. At least until recently, the chaos of the disappearance of the Priest/abbot/bishop (or what ever he was) has thrown it into chaos. lesser priests are handling services but faith slowly wanes.
So you two head to Klagenfurt. You arrive in Klagenfurt shortly after the Lord of Castle Bassano leaves heading back to Trento.
Klagenfurt Arrow of St. Sebastian - Installed in Cathedral On arrival in Klagenfurt you hear how Inquisitor Samuel discovered the arrow to be a fake. The three soils from Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem - Installed in the Cathedral are still present and though someone attempted to steal the Holy Breast Milk - Installed in Dominican Abbey the attempt was thwarted.
Being a little less than subtle Gunnar has Tyr create a diversion nearby to draw eyes and guards away from the relics while you slip into the Cathedral and then the Abbey. Gunnar is forced to kill the lone guard at the Abbey who spots him and gets the jump and first attack via crossbow before inguaging. But other than that everything goes off without a hitch.
Then on to Laibach. Holy Prepuce - Installed in Dom Cathedral in 1072 Tyr slipping in while you watch for uninvited guests, discovers it missing from the strong box it is supposedly stored in (he subtly rips it in two to get inside).
Tooth of St. Barnabas - Installed at Dominican Abbey Gunnar manages to slip in in myst form grab it and get away.
The Blood of St. Hubertus - Installed in Greek Orthodox Church Gunnar manages to get in past the layman that are overseeing the gate at night. You see a opening at the roof and fly in using owl form while Tyr watches from outside. As Gunnar reaches for this he feels a little tingle. Almost instantly after picking it up he gets a excruciating pain that comes over him. Doubling over and causing him to thrash knocking over several items in the process.
Tyr hears the commotion outside and sees the layman call on a town patrol that happens to be nearby. They turn to the doors. Being quick on his feet Tyr does one of the only non-confrontational things he can. He seals the doors with Temporis buying time. The guards arrive and begin bashing at the doors to knock them in. After holding them for a few minutes he lets them go hoping Gunnar has made his escape but preparing to wade in and do some killing if needed.
Gunnar writhes on the floor for several minutes and manages to just get a hold of himself and slip into mist form as several individuals come rushing in. He sip into some cracks in the floor into the cellars/crypts below and make his way out.
Several tense minutes pass with only the alarm of the missing container of blood being discovered. But no Gunnar.. Since no alarm was raised he decides to head to the Rendezvous point. Gunnar eventually shows up just as Tyr was getting ready to head back out to look.
On to Trieste
Being a formerly local and well known Crusader hero Tyr simply heads to the Church of the True Cross. He uses a contact of Jaaks to gather up a small group of local city watch to come with him. He announces how he has been traveling abroad and discovered the thefts of most artifacts in Gaul. He wants to confirm that the Nail installed by Peter is still there. While heading there he casually pulls a nail out of a wooden plank and palms it. They go into the Church and the Abbot opens the lock box displaying the nail. In a unspeakable blur of speed he swaps the real nail for the one he has palmed.
After a acceptable amount of time looking (but not touching) he gives a warning to be vigilant in the name of God and departs. Finding Gunnar at the preset regrouping spot.
Bonus: As the two of you examine the nail and are patting each other on the back for a job well done Gunnar is looking at the nail. while listening to Tyr's story of how he swapped it. He notices something odd about it. There is a slightly polished, shiney mark on one side, as though it was recently removed from wood or scratched. Gunnar asks Tyr if he is sure that he swapped the nails. Tyr is certain. Something isn't seem quite right. Why would a nail from the cross of Jesus seem like it was recently removed from a board? Then again, why steal only one item when they were all so accessible? The two of you easily aquired them all at once and infernals are more than mundane, some being Cainites themselves. Supposedly they are gathering them all up for a nefarious purpose. Why steal one and increase security on the others when someone could do what you did and just grab them all at once? Best take these to someone with knowledge of holy artifacts and learn more.
