It takes some time but Fia eventually finds Samuel and his 12 mounted men after following several rumors of him wandering the countryside. He was hard to locate as him and his men set up camp off the beaten track each night and travel during the day. You are unable to observe his daytime actions. However on several instances after you locate him, his "Trials" run late after dusk.
Some include things like great wooden leavers next to a river to which the evil doer is tied. They are then dunked into the river for a period of time and then raised and given a chance to confess their sins. This is one of the more common ones you have encountered running into the dark hours. Many times you have witnessed the depravity to the sinful finally cleansing their soul of their wrong doings and curses they have laid and gladly naming their fellow conspirators/pagan worshipers. In only one or two cases the individual drowned. Unfortunate sacrifice of the innocent for the greater good but needful. These ones were taken to local churches and buried with all honors of a pure god fearing individual. Some few after lasting well into the night were taken to the local magistrate and never seen again. Though you hear that since only one aligned with the dark forces could survive such ordeals they were sentenced to be executed. Often burned at the stake come dawn.
OOC) Keep in mind that though by todays society we would see the catch 22 in this method in those days this made perfect sense and seemed correct.
In some cases they were locked up and watched for signs of their dark minions coming to visit them (Black Cats, wolf howls, spiders...). Or locked in a Pillory awaiting signs, confessions or escape. You witnessed a family free a family member once but by the following night the entire family had been hunted down for collusion with evil. (You got to witness 2 adults, a teen, a middling child and toddler all be burned at the stake). In another case an individual is said to have escaped through means of their dark pacts with devils.
Eventually, he makes his way in from the far countryside to Klagenfurt city itself. You hear that evening of how he took his men to the Cathedral for a blessing only to discover someone had stolen the Arrow of St. Sebastian. Fortunately the three soils were still intact and he received holy charter to attempt to hunt the thief down. Rumors say the thief headed towards the crossroads and Inquisitor Samuel set off in pursuit.
You manage to catch up to Samuel and his 6 mounted men and continue following them. For the first few days they are riding hard and slightly into the night. Then by the third and fourth day they are not travelling as far during daylight and not at all at night.
As you approach the Crossroads you loose their tracks. All seven of them have simply vanished, gone. No sign of if they travel led on. You are unable to sniff out or uncover their tracks.
Obviously they must have realized they were being followed and covered their tracks.
You spend a few days looking around trying to pick up their tracks with no luck. Over the course of the last few months you have noticed a little chaos in the Norther lights. Nothing overly obvious or callings to you until Samuel and his men disappear. At this time the Northern lights start getting even more chaotic and crazy until suddenly one night the just go dark half way through a particularly chaotic display.

As requested by Gunnar, Fia is returning to klagenfurt where she will begin poking about at any major religious institutions or churches looking for anything that could be a relic. There was talk of holy dirt or some sour breast milk.
Using investigation 3 and the last known locations. She will also keep an eye on the aurora and the surroundings in case of a Samuel sighting.

You have little luck poking around Klagenfurt, seems several of the Gaul court has been through here recently and also Inquisitor Samuel.
While meditating on your conundrum one night, seeking signs in the Aurora you feel drawn sout east and south ward into the deep mountains. Following the Aurora and the feeling you travel several weeks through valley, over mountain, through cave systems.
Travelling deep into the wilderness you follow what appears to once have been a winding road. Almost lost in the intervening centuries. Coming around the crest of a mountain you notice a fallen keep in the distance, dark marks mar the outer walls, it is much destroyed but there are still some walls that are visible. Picking up the pace and sending Johan ahead to scout. The old "road" if it can still be called that, ends at a 100' wide canyon with the remnants of a bridge with the span having collapsed. As there is no way around as this crevice seems to split the mountain side making this a very secure location for a castle, probably why it was chosen. Good thing for you that you can fly and this poses little impediment. You arrive in the courtyard and feel this is where you need to be.
The Keep is mostly fallen, the cellars appear collapsed and this all seems to have happened in the last few hundred years. Judging by some of the remnants you are pretty sure this was once a Tzmitze Keep. Searching it you do not find anything of value. You do however discover another derelict route to the south and if your guess is correct one of the city states bordering Croatia and Serbia.
You begin a thorough search of the keep, knowing somethign is here for you to find. Durring your search you spot a humanoid with a large spider body and the torso of a beautiful human (drider). based on it's reactions and behaviors, you think it was a tzmitze. Loosing track of it in the darkness you begin a inch by inch search of the cavern before realizing that in bat form you can use echo to map it. Finally you discover what you think is a crevasses hidden in the roof. When you fly up to investigate it you discovered a hidden cave in the roof. As you approach the drider springs forth and attacks. Unfortunately for it, you are in bat form ad are able to easily avoid its attack. If falls the 50+ feet to the floor where you swoop in to make the kill. As you are about to issue the coup des gras you are set on by something else. A massive battle ensues and as you transform this thing transforms. You quickly realize that you are fighting with a Tzmitze and they have no intention of taking prisoners.
With your blood going quickly into healing the damage this thing is dealing out you finally manage to put it down into torpor, laying next to it is the twitching body of the drider with a pool of blood surrounding it. A Tzmitze creation it seems. At the sight of the blood and your imminent need for it you try to drink hoping there is still some life left in the beast. But nothing, it has bled to death and there is nothing there for you.
In a hunger frenzy you set to work on the Tzmitze. Ohhh, exctasy, their blood is potent and tasty, revitalizing you. You can feel the power coursing through it. but then the blood ends, there is no more to be had (you are maybe half full). Before you realize it the Tzmitze's soul starts exiting their body and you can taste it. If there was ecstasy before this takes it to a new level. You feel as though if you keep drinking you could become one with the Northern Lights, you could merge your consciousness with it and learn secrets hitherto unknown. Then there is a flash that runs through your mind, wait, this is diablery, supposedly it is wrong... But then again, why waste this power, this insight. No one is here, no one will suspect, no one will ever know. You also realize that as soon as you remove your fangs this Cainite will turn to ash and so is dead anyways.
What do you do? Do you choose the road of diablery, knowledge and possible power? or do you stop and conform to what others say you shouldn't do (even though the Tremere did it over and over and Elders are said to reclaim the blood of their childer if they fail)
OOC) What do you do? Diablerize them or not? Your call

Follow up. After the Tzmitze ashes a breastplate falls to the ground, supple, flexible able to hid under a reasonably thick shirt. Looking at it closer under the night sky the Aurora tell you it is a dragon scale, crafted and enchanted into an artifact. Worshiped for many years by the mortal populace that once resided here and gathered up by the lone surviving Tzmitze after the people were killed or fled.
You know in your bones that this is a Religious Artifact. Once sacred to a Pagan group, imbued with their belief and faith in it. When you strap it on you feel tougher, more able to go into battle and come away alive. (You will have to research the specifics or just learn them on your own).
Which in you mind makes click the connections that Christianity is only the most recent of religions to so imbue artifacts through faith. In fact your own tribe had a artifact that through their belief was empowered to call whales to the surface durring hunts. If this is the case then there might be far more than that small list given out. That it is arrogant to thing Christianity has a monopoly on religion.
Knowing you are probably unable to return the way you came due to your low blood levels you choose to follow the other pass from here. Hoping you will be able to find something or someone to feed on. Animal blood may not be prefered but at least it can get you though until you find a better source.
As you fly out and begin to get your bearings you are pretty sure you are approaching the borders of Croatia and Serbia. You remember something from the Crusaders that suggest there might be a place called Zagreb nearby.
Flying above the old overgrown road and looking back you notice the northern lights flashing through some caves in a mountain, making it look almost as though a mischievous spirit is watching you. Coming down a valley from that very mountain walks two men, circling above you note one of them to be Jaak and the other his retainer. Seems like you will have company on the way home.
Once you get to Zagreb you discover that there happens to be a ship docked there that will be heading back to Trieste soon. Coincidentally, it seems Galahad had chartered this ship for the round trip. You are going to have to bargain with him for a ride... I will create a board for you all.

Chris, this one is good!!! I sent her to the keep that the Quest for the lamp went through, and in chasing the Tzmitze/drider found the artifact you wanted "dragon scale" hahahaha if they figure out they were there it will really throw a twist into what people chase when they go on a long quest.
