Jack the Mud Man
Ordered to ride north Jack the mud man is told use his abilities to infiltrate and evaluate the defenses off the Brujah northern border fort and surroundings.
Jack sends several short missives back. Messages delivered to the Shield of Safety.
1) He has reached the area and is going to infiltrate the valley with a merchant caravan. That so far what he see's is a strong fierce looking mercenary looking force guarding a new gate at the southern portion of the pass. Six towers span the approximate 150' gap between cliff walls. There is a heavy stone rubble wall barricade between towers. Each tower is 25-35 feet high with soldiers on top. The Rubble wall/barricade is made in a fashion that there are holes and boulders and such making it very difficult to climb or move up at speed. there is a large iron reinforced wood gate and a portcullis. From where he currently is the wall looks deep.
2) He managed to get inside. There are a few catapults behind the wall. There is a disproportionate number of soldiers to normal looking people. Even the woman look hard used and are armed. He will see what he can learn after night fall.
3) First night at the inn he was stopped when he tried to go outside after dark. It seems only those actively on patrol or special citizens, are permitted out after dark. He did witness a group of slaves being taken from the market at night by a more uniformly armored group towards the keep.
4) He managed to replace a fairly new guard and take his place in a patrol. They patrolled the town proper and ran into a mercenary who was out on his own. They claimed they were just late leaving their mistress but the patrol leader brokered no discussion. Cited some ordinance about curfew, cut his hands off there and then, cauterizing the wounds so he would not bleed to death. Shortly after they delivered him to what Jack is pretty sure was a Kindred who took the mercenary away.
5) Explored a little during the day. Discovered there are 3 towns within the very large valley. The valley walls are truly staggering in height and probably impassibility for normal forces. He was refused permission to visit one of the other towns. It seems that when a merchant checks in at the gate they declare which town they are to visit and that is the only one they are permitted to enter. He tried to slip out at night to get to the next town but was pretty sure someone or something was watching him from the woods. Will depart with he merchants northward tomorrow and then try to join another caravan coming back in to another town in a day or two.
6) No more missives arrive. No word from Jack.
