Just spending my first DT studying & cross-referencing what I can (with my Occult, Lores, etc) to get deeper on closing in on the demonic Cultists.

You begin to piece together notes from various sources and lores.
What you discover: In the past there have been several "waves" of infernal activity. That each time it rears it's ugly head there are a number of similarities.
The first is that it always seems to begin with one soul. Someone who takes on the mantle and goals of a demonic lord, selling their soul for the ultimate power, the right to be prominent among all others. From here numbers are not clear but this individual always seems to choose a certain number of individuals that represent aspects of their lord.l A number of individuals when together can call upon some of the greater hidden aspects of their lord through ritual.
Through history as these waves have come and gone they have always drawn Chaos to the surface, affecting the lands they are centered in. As aspects of the chaos rise in the lands more and more power is available to the servants. It is thought that this represents the rise of the Infernal Demon as they draw closer and closer to our world. Their nearness and the thinning of the barriers in certain areas allow for rituals of greater power and accomplishments to be performed.
Teleportation or something resembling the Lasambra ability to Walk the Abys or the Capodocians access to the shadow lands is thought to be one of these powers.
In Egypt the rise of the locusts, the destruction of crops, the "disappearance" of slaves, sacrifices and assassination of the ruling class, the river running red with blood...
In a lost kingdom it was rumored that the ports were plagued with sea monsters, that fruit was devoured by worms as it hung on the branches of trees, tidal waves struck their small kingdom for near several years with relative consistency, ship hulls rotted as they sat at anchor.
In Asia rice fields were overtaken by red lotus's, great flocks of cranes attacked villagers, entire towns disappeared with no trace, Warlords found their armies turning on them, children rising to kill their parents.
Each time a hero or hero's rose. Climbing their way from obscurity to battle the dark forces, turning their own power back on them. In the case of the island kingdom the forces were so great that it is believed that the island either sank, was outright destroyed or perhaps even moved to an entire other plane.
In the instance of Carthage several individuals drew together to assail the forces rising there, that a sacrifice of the city was required. In the end it took a great sacrifice to close the pit that had been opened through which the demon was to be birthed into the mortal world.
It is not understood exactly how the primary figures managed to gain their information but it is known that somehow each of them gained a great knowledge of the powers used by the infernals.
